The Trustees of the César Manrique Foundation, César's siblings, Juana and Carlos, his nephews, members of the municipal Corporation of Haría and a wide representation of Lanzarote society united by different links with the César Manrique Foundation have celebrated an institutional act, with a visit to the House-Museum, which will open its doors to the general public next Tuesday.
The act has consisted of brief interventions by the president of the César Manrique Foundation, José Juan Ramírez, the mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga, and the director of the Institution, Fernando Gómez Aguilera. In addition, they have taken a tour of the House-Museum during which the Gold Medal awarded by the Haría City Council to César Manrique as Adopted Son of the municipality has been placed in the decorations display case.
José Juan Ramírez wanted to point out that César Manrique "was very happy here", in this house in Haría, and that the conversion into a museum space of what was his home and its opening to the public, "will reinforce César's happiness". The president of the Institution has anticipated to the visitors of the place that in the House-Museum they will be able to "know better the experiences of a great artist and a wonderful human being".
The president of the César Manrique Foundation has pointed out that this was "a day of satisfaction" and has affirmed that the House Museum project "is designed to grow". He also expressed his wish that the characteristics of the César Manrique Haría House-Museum, which enrich the offer of complementary and quality tourism for Lanzarote, also contribute "to the economy of Haría, to the extent of our possibilities".
"A living extension of his personality"
For his part, the director of the César Manrique Foundation, Fernando Gómez Aguilera, addressed the attendees by telling them that the house to be visited "is an emotional space" that reflects the artist's identity traits as "a living extension of his personality". And it should be remembered that the César Manrique Haría House-Museum "does not recreate, but faithfully reproduces" the home where the artist lived the last years of his life.
Both Gómez Aguilera and José Juan Ramírez wanted to publicly thank and acknowledge the work carried out by the staff of the César Manrique Foundation and all those who have intervened in the setting up of the House-Museum.
Finally, in his speech, the mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga, summarized the opening of the House-Museum in a "thank you, much more than a formality" and defined this Saturday, this day, as one "of those gratifying moments" for the municipality of Haría.
