The PSOE will ask in the next plenary session for explanations from the government of the Canary Coalition (CC), Popular Party (PP) and Vox about the “controversial” traffic plan implemented in the town of Caleta de Famara.
“They have turned the entrance to the town into a parking lot”, “the essence of a town is being annihilated”, “the main avenue is being suffocated”, “they ignored the opinions of the residents”, are some of the reactions, recalls Marcos Bergaz, socialist leader, “that have aroused the unilateral decision of the government of Teguise”.
The councilor considers “a mistake to increase the vehicles at the entrance of Caleta de Famara, due to the visual impact it causes in such a characteristic space, in addition to not improving the mobility of the town”.
“For all this - announces Bergaz - we will ask for explanations from those responsible for such a decision, because Caleta de Famara does not need improvisations but a program of participatory and thoughtful actions on mobility, signage, sidewalks, green areas, cleaning, accessibility, furniture, etc., after years of neglect”.
“Even less understandable is the decision, after the promise to ‘cesarize’ the municipality that the Canary Coalition defended in the electoral campaign. They promised us to return César Manrique's gaze to the public space, however, they soon forget about it with decisions contrary to the idiosyncrasy of Famara, which is what increasing the number of vehicles at the main entrance to this town entails”, concludes Bergaz.
