The spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, has anticipated that the PSOE will bring to the next plenary session an initiative to "urge the Government Group to resume negotiations with Red Eléctrica de España to bury the power lines of Los Ajaches", once the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has "rejected" the procedure of the Yaiza City Council that "opposed the route proposed by the operator".
González recalled that during the past term, the then island president, Loli Corujo, reached a "pre-agreement with Red Eléctrica de España for the modification of the power line project in the section that affects Los Ajaches", specifically between Las Casitas and Femés, as it is the area where there was "a greater visual impact".
As the councilor explained, "the formalization of that pre-agreement was awaiting the final result of the procedure undertaken by the Yaiza City Council, since if the courts ruled in favor of the southern city council, Red Eléctrica would be obliged to modify the project without any agreement."
"Unfortunately, the TSJC has ruled in favor of Red Eléctrica and now it is up to the Cabildo to make the pre-agreement reached by Loli Corujo definitive," said the socialist spokesperson, recalling that "this threat to the environment and the island's landscape arises as a result of the abandonment of the previous government of Coalición Canaria, which allowed the route proposed by Red Eléctrica de España to be approved without even making allegations, as happened with the PROAC and the marine cages," concludes Ariagona.
