The PSOE regrets that Oswaldo Betancort did not attend the Inalsa Council that decided to claim more interest from Teguise

“In addition to playing forgetful with the non-attendance, the Mayor incurs in a practice that is on its way to becoming a classic: the fault is always of others”, declares Bergaz

Marcos Bergaz, PSOE spokesperson in the Teguise City Council

The PSOE regrets that the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, did not attend the Board of Directors of Inalsa in which it was decided to appeal the judgment by which Teguise is condemned to pay 1,478,012.25 euros for non-payment of water during the years 2002 to 2013, and that if successful would mean an increase of several hundred thousand euros of the amount to be paid.

As the socialist spokesman Marcos Bergaz recalled in the last plenary session, "the City Council of Teguise has the Mayor as a representative in the governing body of Inalsa, however, on the day the decision to appeal is taken - December 23, 2020 -, the Mayor does not attend the call".

Contrary to what Oswaldo Betancort declared on an island radio station "the Councillor for Finance was there", the truth is that Teguise did not attend the Council, which seems inconceivable given the importance of the matter, because if Justice agrees with Inalsa - which we do not want -, could considerably increase the amount to be paid; added Bergaz.

For the socialist group, "if the government of Teguise considers that Inalsa is right in its appeal, it should have said so and proceed to settle the dispute so that interest is not generated, otherwise, the logical thing is to oppose with arguments so that it is not appealed, but in any case, attend the Board of Directors where a matter of such relevance is addressed".
"In addition to playing forgetful with the non-attendance, the Mayor incurs in a practice that is on its way to becoming a classic: the fault is always of others", declares Bergaz, because he even criticizes the PSOE of Teguise for a decision, that of appealing the sentence and asking for more interest, which has been taken by Inalsa, where the Mayor is precisely as a representative.

Finally, the socialists of Teguise offer Oswaldo Betancort to "remind him, when necessary, the need for our institution to attend all those bodies where issues of importance for the Municipality and the island are addressed, so that absences do not occur again when Teguise is at stake".
