Tinajo's PSOE demands improvements in public transportation for residents, not just tourists

The socialists criticize the investment of more than one million euros in mobility for visitors while towns such as Tinguatón, El Tablero, or La Costa remain isolated without connection or basic transportation services.

Tinajo's PSOE has celebrated the addition of three electric buses destined to provide access to the Los Volcanes Natural Park, but warns that the lack of a decent municipal public transportation service for the resident population can no longer be ignored. "Betting on sustainability and improving the experience of those who visit us is always positive, but sustainability also involves addressing the needs of those who live here," said the socialist spokesperson, Begoña Hernández. "It is of little use to talk about green mobility if our elders cannot go to the health center, if our young people cannot travel to study, or if families cannot access decent transportation to work," she added. The PSOE [Spanish Socialist Workers' Party] denounces that, while more than one million euros are allocated to tourist mobility, the residents of Tinajo remain completely disconnected. There are no lines connecting the towns with each other or with the main tourist centers of the island. Towns such as Tinguatón, El Tablero, or La Costa, where there is even an official stop that has been unused for years, remain isolated. The socialist party considers it "unacceptable" that Tinajo does not have a direct line to Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca, thus limiting access to employment, education, and basic services. "We are not asking for anything extraordinary, we are asking for the basics: that Tinajo has a public transport service that works and that thinks about the people," Hernández stressed. "Promises and pilot projects are not enough. True sustainable mobility begins by guaranteeing the right to public transport for those who live here." From the PSOE of Tinajo, they demand that the municipal government group stop looking only towards tourism and start looking inward, prioritizing a local mobility plan that structures the municipality and connects its towns with schedules and frequencies according to the real needs of the citizens.
