The PSOE of Lanzarote has accused Oswaldo Betancort of lying again “in a tortuous way” about the contract awarded to UTE Residenza for the construction of the Tahíche Senior Residence. The socialist councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote Isabel Martín, has assured that the previous government presided over by Loli Corujo left the contract “resolved and notified to the company.”
“Betancort is lying again in a tortuous way, assuring that it is the current government that is resolving the contract. The current president has already added several serious lies around this issue. First he publicly assured that he would try to recover the contract with UTE Residenza and later he lied assuring that the Cabildo had had to return 6.5 million euros to the Government of the Canary Islands. Neither has the economic investment for the residence ever been in danger nor was the contract left unresolved.”
“Lying is becoming a habit,” denounces Isabel Martín
“Recently we have had to remind Oswaldo Betancort that if the materialization of the Tahíche Residence has been delayed, it has been due to the sum of negligence of the Canarian Coalition, due to the clumsiness of Pedro San Ginés as President of the Cabildo and of himself as mayor of Teguise. The Canarian Coalition awarded this work to a company without the capacity to execute it, delayed the permits of Teguise and planned it on land not suitable for socio-health use.”
“We are surprised and concerned that lying is becoming a habit. The legacy we found was Dantean: an electoral project that intended to award a work of social service to an Italian investment fund on land that is not suitable for socio-health use. That is the reality and that is the model of the Canarian Coalition to care for the most vulnerable people. The current President of the Cabildo should get used to his duty to be transparent with the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa,” he concludes.
