The socialist spokesperson in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, has responded to the statements of the parliamentarians of Coalición Canaria announcing an amendment to the regional budgets for the construction of the dock of the Arrecife Maritime Fishing Institute.
"The presentation of amendments of this type is nothing more than the recognition of a failure. The Government of the Canary Islands has not included this item in the budgets because Oswaldo Betancort and his colleagues have not done their homework in a timely manner," said the councilor, insisting that "this type of infrastructure should not respond to a last-minute occurrence to save face in the face of the clamorous absence of investments destined for Lanzarote."
For González, "the greatest proof that the amendment announced by Betancort and his colleagues is nothing more than an attempt to save face is in the systematic abandonment suffered by the Fishing School."
"Two teachers have been missing since the beginning of the course and the absences of teaching staff lasting more than fifteen days are not covered. In addition, they have not paid the six-year terms of the fishing staff and they still have not equated the career civil servants of group A2 to group A1, as the Ministry of Education has done, when all teachers perform the same functions."
"Oswaldo Betancort cannot boast of trying to turn our Fishing School into a benchmark and be an accomplice at the same time to the abandonment to which the Government of the Canary Islands has subjected it. To this day, the contracting of key elements, such as the fire container, the radio simulator or the planetarium, among others, remains blocked," concluded the councilor.
