The Socialist Group of the Arrecife City Council, through its councilor Roy González, has denounced the state of deterioration and neglect of the city's canopies. According to González, the current municipal government, led by the Popular Party, has completely abandoned mobility policies during its six years of management, evidencing a lack of commitment to citizens who depend on public transport.
“It is regrettable that the Popular Party, after six years in government, has completely abandoned mobility in Arrecife. The canopies are in a deplorable state. It is yet another sign of their contempt for the well-being of the residents,” González declared.
The councilor also harshly criticized the lack of initiatives by the local government to solve the structural problems of the city. "This government group has completely forgotten the major pending issues of Arrecife, such as mobility. Instead of working in these fundamental areas, they are focused on turning the capital into a party room. They not only demonstrate the inability to manage, but their priorities, far from being aligned with the general interest, are only aligned with partisan interests and what they believe will bring them electoral gain," González stated.
Likewise, González questions why the City Council has not yet made use of the new fleet of buses that is available and demands a clear explanation about this inactivity. "It is unacceptable that, with the available resources, nothing is being done to improve the quality of public transport in Arrecife," González concluded.
