The PSOE of Lanzarote has denounced that the "lack of dialogue and consensus from Oswaldo Betancort is the reason" that has caused “an unprecedented crisis in the taxi sector in Lanzarote”, generated by the “President's persecution of those who think differently”. The socialists are referring to the "stoppage of service during the upcoming Holy Week", announced this Tuesday by two of the three taxi cooperatives in Lanzarote, with representation in six of the seven municipalities of the island, to protest the measures being prepared by the Cabildo "without the consensus of the same" so that any taxi on the island can provide service when the capacity of the taxis in a specific municipality is "overwhelmed".
"The CC brand in the government"
“With the unilateral decision to declare a sensitive zone during Holy Week, without consulting the sector and the town councils, Oswaldo Betancort is not only taking the wrong path but is representing the Coalición Canaria brand better than ever when it governs: doing it for a few, generating conflict and persecuting those who think differently”, stated the spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and deputy secretary of the Executive Committee of the PSOE of Lanzarote, Ariagona González.
“Oswaldo's strategy leads us to chaos”
“If Oswaldo Betancort's intention was to reach agreements, he would have acted contrary to how he has done and not by digging in his heels in his decisions without listening to anyone. If six of the seven municipalities on the island do not agree with the measures that the Cabildo wants to take, clearly it is not acting in favor of the interests of the majority. This type of decision can only be resolved with consensus, dialogue and support for the sector, which has also made clear on repeated occasions its willingness and open attitude to reach agreements. We urge the President to back down on his decision and recalibrate his strategy which, if maintained, will only lead us to chaos”, added the socialist spokesperson.
