The Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has presented a motion requesting that the necessary actions be initiated immediately to recover the court costs allegedly unduly charged by the lawyer Ignacio Calatayud during the insolvency proceedings of Inalsa.

The initiative is based on a recent resolution of the Mercantile Court number 1, which has condemned Calatayud to pay the costs of the process in which he claimed 82,600 euros for his participation in one of the incidents of the creditors' meeting of the public company. The court considered that said claim was not appropriate, since his hiring included both the main cause and the incidents of the procedure.

The spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Ariagona González, has denounced the inaction of the current president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, since his arrival at the head of the Cabildo, the Water Consortium and INALSA itself: “It is unacceptable that, with a firm conviction that dismisses the claim for fees, nothing has been done to recover costs that could exceed one and a half million euros and that were charged with the approval of Pedro San Ginés.”

González points out that the Socialist Group hopes to have the support of the Plenary so that the amount of the costs allegedly unduly charged is recovered as soon as possible. She also emphasizes that the PSOE has been denouncing these practices for years: “We are talking about public money, and the Cabildo has the obligation to act forcefully. We cannot continue to allow the defense of the general interest to be ignored".
