The spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, has denounced that Oswaldo Betancort has taken the Island Plan to the Plenary "without giving the opposition time to examine it", since the documentation has been made available to the groups only a week in advance.
«Oswaldo Betancort has insisted that the opposition arrive at this Plenary with their hands tied behind their backs and blindfolded, despite having requested access to the draft of the Island Plan for months», González has reproached.
The councilor has recalled that "initially the delivery of a copy to the Socialist Group was denied with the unacceptable consideration that we were third parties, as if we were not part of the corporation, to later hide behind the fact that the documentation had not been reviewed by the service".
«Now, after these obstacles to access the content of the document, Oswaldo Betancort summons us in a hurry so that we can pronounce ourselves on a document that we have barely been able to begin to study. He only needed to declare the territorial emergency to try to justify this unjustifiable urgency», the councilor has pointed out.
For González, this way of acting represents "an intolerable lack of respect not only to the Socialist Party and the rest of the opposition group, but to the citizens themselves, since the real possibility of control over the government is curtailed".
In the words of the councilor, "it is a lack of respect even to the work of the technicians and the councilor himself, by unbearably trivializing the work done, considering, apparently, that it is enough to look at the covers of the volumes".
The socialist spokesperson has justified her group's abstention by pointing out that "the PSOE is not going to commit the imprudence of pronouncing itself on a vital document for Lanzarote, we leave the occurrences to Oswaldo Betancort".
