The PSOE blames Betancort for Lanzarote not having a fuel bonus

The socialists accuse the president of the Cabildo of "collaborating in the delay of the acquisition of this benefit that also belongs to the people of Lanzarote"

The PSOE has accused Coalición Canaria of continuing to "unjustifiably entangle and delay" Lanzarote and La Graciosa from benefiting from the fuel tax bonus. Thus, the socialists have pointed out the "inability of Oswaldo Betancort" to "defend the interests of the island."

The socialists have denounced that after approving the regional budgets, which leave out the bonus for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, Coalición Canaria has justified itself by "hiding behind the lie that there was no information to prove the extra cost." In addition, it has pointed to the nationalists for "hiding two reports commissioned by the Government of the Canary Islands, which show that Lanzarote does experience an extra cost."

Thus, the PSOE has revealed that "Oswaldo Betancort is once again taking a PNL to the Parliament of the Canary Islands this Wednesday requesting a new market study, and requesting exactly the same thing that the Socialist Parliamentary Group was demanding months ago."

"They are making fun of the people of Lanzarote," said Ariagona González, spokesperson and councilor of the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, who has reported that the Socialist Parliamentary Group has presented an amendment to the PNL to extend the current bonus to the islands of El Hierro, La Palma and La Gomera to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, quantifying it at at least 40% of that planned for the green islands.

"It was not enough for the president to raise his hand to approve budgets that he knows are discriminatory towards Lanzarote, it was not enough for him to suffer the ridicule of the last plenary session with the reports that the Socialist Group gave him, disproving his lying arguments, with which he had so far shielded his inaction and demonstrating that there is data that shows that there is an extra cost in Lanzarote. Now he is once again making a fool of himself by bowing to Clavijo again and collaborating in the delay of the acquisition of this benefit that, by right, also belongs to the people of Lanzarote," added González.

Inability to defend Lanzarote

"Once the serious lie under which Betancort was hiding has been uncovered and the intolerable submission to Fernando Clavijo has been demonstrated, the least that can be expected of a president of the Cabildo is to demand what belongs to Lanzarote and end the discrimination to which the Government of the Canary Islands is subjecting the citizens of this island," the PSOE has denounced.

"Oswaldo Betancort once again flagrantly demonstrates his inability to defend the interests of Lanzarote and La Graciosa against those of his party in Tenerife. This is the same President who boasted of going to Brussels if necessary to solve the problems of the island. From the Socialist Group we demand that he first do his homework in Tenerife and then consider policies of other flights," González concluded.
