The Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Court has communicated today the Decree of the Investigating Prosecutor ordering the "immediate closure of the proceedings" initiated against the insular secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote and deputy for the province of Las Palmas, María Dolores Corujo.
After an exhaustive and forceful exposition, the Decree of the Supreme Court prosecutor concludes by stating that the investigated facts do not constitute a criminal offense, flatly refuting the lawyer of Coalición Canaria hired by Oswaldo Betancort as insular director to orchestrate a judicial hunt against the socialist leader.
For her part, Corujo has expressed her deep satisfaction with this closure: "From the first moment I maintained that it was a political complaint, a hunt undertaken by Oswaldo Betancort with the sole purpose of trying to disqualify me as a candidate. Today, the Public Prosecutor's Office proves me right."
"As will be recalled, in January 2026, Oswaldo Betancort appointed David Montes (lawyer for the Coalición Canaria Group in the Cabildo) as insular director of the Presidency, who on February 2 was tasked with "studying" the file of Juan Manuel Sosa. Twenty-five days later, the complaint against me was filed. And today the Supreme Court Prosecutor says that there was no crime there and that I did only what the law allowed me to do," she explained.
To conclude, the insular secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote has anticipated that in the coming days she will announce the actions she will take as a consequence of this false complaint:
"We cannot normalize that the lawyer of Coalición Canaria is hired for more than five thousand euros a month to file false complaints and have him in the media day in and day out spreading falsehoods like my alleged but non-existent indictment. Now it is the turn of our lawyers."
"No press release undoes five months of suspicion on a person and their family, followed by continuous slander and accusations in the media by the complainant himself, paid by Oswaldo Betancort from the cabildo. But today it has become clear that the only resolution that exists on this matter says that there was no crime," Corujo concluded.
