The Arrecife PP has responded to the PSOE councilwoman, Cristina Duque, who has denounced that Arrecife is the Spanish city that spends the most on Christmas lights per inhabitant.
"A single search on the Public Sector Procurement Platform makes it clear that Cristina Duque, and whoever drafted her latest PSOE press release, could not have passed math. In a clearly manipulative way, Cristina Duque, on behalf of the PSOE of Lanzarote, has attributed to the Arrecife City Council being the public administration in Spain that allocates the most to Christmas lighting per inhabitant," points out the Popular Party.
"The reality is different. With the PSOE's own data, a City Council in Lanzarote, governed by the PSOE and Podemos, has allocated 9.18 euros per inhabitant for its Christmas lighting expenses," they point out. "From the PP of the capital of Lanzarote, they remind Cristina Dique that making the municipality of Tías red, with the general secretary of Organization of the PSOE in Lanzarote as mayor, has cost the amount of 197,201 euros, with a cost per inhabitant of almost 10 euros (9.18 euros)," they assure.
The same Public Sector Procurement Platform reflects that Arrecife awarded, to the same company that carries out the installation in Tías, the Christmas lighting in 17 neighborhoods and the entire city center, for 621,300 euros, representing a cost per inhabitant of 8.77 euros.
The spokesperson for the PP in the Arrecife City Council and councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, reminded Cristina Dique this Tuesday to "learn to calculate more and set an example for her Secretary General of Organization, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, as it is proven that it is the most extravagant municipality in Lanzarote." Councilor Merino Betancor details that "in the PSOE, they not only know about red lights, but also about making calculation errors."
According to the INE, Arrecife has a registered population of 70,811 people and Tías has 21,462 people. The contract awarded by the Tías City Council for Christmas lighting amounted to 197,201 euros, including taxes. In Arrecife, the awarded contract was 621,300 euros, including taxes. The PSOE, in its crude manipulation of data, transmits the bidding amount and not the final awarded amount.
The PP spokesperson in Arrecife suggests to Cristina Duque that she return to class so she doesn't fail at the simple rules of dividing and adding correctly, unless she is unaware that she has a spendthrift as her general secretary of Organization for Lanzarote, according to the PSOE's own expressions in their press releases.
Eli Merino recalls that many citizens from Tías, as well as from other municipalities in Lanzarote, come to Arrecife to enjoy the good Christmas atmosphere. This year, for the first time, this ambiance has been extended to all urban centers in the municipality of Arrecife and contributes to the revitalization of Arrecife as the capital of shopping and events.
