The PP of Tinajo criticizes the "lack of transparency" of the town hall

Tinajo is on the list of the eight non-compliant corporations according to the Court of Auditors

The local committee of the People's Party

The local committee of the Popular Party considers it "unacceptable" that this time it is the Court of Auditors that has published the names of the municipalities that evade their duty to submit reports within the planned deadlines; Tinajo occupies a place within the reduced list of the eight non-compliant corporations out of the eighty-eight that the Canary Islands has.

In the case of the municipality of Tinajo, the Court of Auditors requires them to "send" the contracts signed with companies and organizations, which places "our town for the second time on the list of defaulters” in its public obligations, indicates the local PP.

For that reason, these eight municipalities have 2 percent of the income withheld that they have to receive from the Government of the Canary Islands, and they may also be subject to sanctioning procedures by the Court of Auditors.

Already in the first semester of this year a similar event occurred when the 'Transparency Commissioner of the Government of the Canary Islands' required Jesús Machín, mayor of Tinajo, to agree to give the information requested over and over again by the parties in the opposition on issues such as the invoices charged by Canal Gestión to the City Council or the state of accounts.

In that record of defaulters due to lack of transparency, the City Council of Tinajo obtained an accumulated score of 3.21 points while the Autonomous Community as a whole approves with 7.32 points.

According to the Local Committee of the PP, in Tinajo the "practice of opacity and obstructionism" promoted by the mayor persists, who considers himself, however, an "accessible and transparent manager"; for this reason, they urge him from the political formation to "comply with the rules established for public administrations and to remove the municipality from the lists of defaulters".
