The People's Party of San Bartolomé will defend a motion this Wednesday in the plenary session to demand the urgent inspection, audit, and rehabilitation of the innumerable hanging cables that exist in the municipality, paying special attention to the town of Güime.
The spokesperson for the People's Party in the council, Jeziel Martín Arrocha, explains that this initiative responds to "the repeated complaints and expressions of discontent that the neighbors and residents themselves have conveyed to the popular team." "In multiple points of the town, there are currently hanging, untensioned, or low-lying cables, as well as poles in a state of deterioration or deficient fixings on the facades of homes," denounces the councilor.
Martín warns that this situation generates "a serious visual and landscape impact," although the most worrying thing "is that it represents a real and latent danger to the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, users of public roads, and vehicles."
The popular party reminds that the City Council, as the administration closest to the citizen, "has the duty to ensure safety in public spaces."
Therefore, the motion formulated by the popular spokesperson requests the San Bartolomé City Council to carry out "an urgent technical inspection and audit throughout the municipality, and as a priority in the urban and rural nucleus of Güime, to catalog and identify the points of greatest risk in the overhead lines."
Likewise, the initiative demands "to formally require the electricity and telecommunications distribution companies to proceed immediately with the re-tensioning, repair, conditioning, or removal of all hanging or damaged cables and poles that endanger citizen safety."
