The PP of Lanzarote wants to declare "persona non grata" to Pedro Sánchez

The party, which is part of the Island Government, says that this initiative seeks to "serve as an institutional channel for the majority feeling of the people of Lanzarote"

The Popular Party Group in the Island Council of Lanzarote has presented this Monday a motion to be debated and voted on in plenary. In it, it proposes to declare Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government of Spain, persona non grata.

The populars have assured that "the objective of this motion is to serve as an institutional channel for the majority feeling of the people of Lanzarote of disapproval of the visit for vacations of a president", who they assure is "persecuted by suspicion, cornered by corruption and tolerant of humiliating behaviors towards women."

This motion, presented by Councilor Ángel Vázquez, arises weeks after the Popular Party of Lanzarote asked the President of the Spanish Executive not to spend his vacations on the island this year, because it maintains that he is "not welcome nor worthy" of it.

The party, which is part of the Island Government, has accused the Government of Spain of "systematic abandonment" of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, "in terms of immigration, security and humanitarian assistance during its mandate."

"We are aware that the approval of this motion will not prevent the President of the Government from dishonoring us with his visit, but we understand that it is essential that this Council formally pronounce itself," they have indicated in the motion that they have disseminated to the press.
