The Popular Party of Lanzarote has once again demanded an immediate action by AENA given the evident state of neglect, deterioration, and dirt in which the garden areas and exteriors of the César Manrique Lanzarote Airport are found.
From the PP they consider it “inadmissible” that the main gateway to an island that is a Biosphere Reserve, used daily by thousands of tourists and residents, and which also bears the name of César Manrique, the greatest reference for respect for the environment, offers such a neglected image, with gardens without any type of maintenance, dry plants, unpruned palm trees, weeds, impassable sidewalks, broken manholes, and accumulated dirt in the accesses and common areas.
“It is a matter of image, but also of responsibility. We cannot allow the first impression received by those who arrive in Lanzarote to be that of a dirty and poorly maintained environment. It is not worthy of an island that lives from tourism, that strives for environmental and landscape care, and that tries to take care of every detail. Projecting this degree of neglect and apathy to those who visit us is inconceivable,” says the president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez.
Pérez has been especially critical of the neglect reflected in the exteriors of the airport grounds for months, which affects the surroundings of the two terminals. “The current appearance of the airport is in plain sight, it is unacceptable and we demand an urgent response from AENA and the State Government.”
Therefore, the president of the Popular Party has announced that they will use all possible channels, both in Congress and in the Senate, to demand that the Ministry of Development and the Sánchez Government act immediately in the cleaning, maintenance, and adaptation of all the garden areas and outdoor spaces of the airport.
“Lanzarote deserves a modern, clean, and well-maintained infrastructure, befitting the tourist destination that we are. This neglect is unprecedented and we demand an urgent solution,” concludes Astrid Pérez.
