The meeting of the Board and the Regional Executive Committee of the People's Party already has a date. It will be held next Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Hotel Escuela Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
This Regional Executive Committee of the PP will serve to announce the dismissals and appointments of the party and announce the dates of the calls for insular congresses, among other matters, with an eye on the upcoming elections in 2027.
During the celebration of this event, the date for the Insular Congress of the People's Party of Lanzarote will be set, an event that is expected to be in early November.
The president of the PP of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, intervened last July in the program *Buenos días, Lanzarote* on *Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero* where she left the door open to running again for re-election in case the Insular Congress was known.
In this regard, she assured that although it was still a decision she had to think about "seriously," "very many party colleagues" encourage her to be a candidate again.
Some time before these statements, her party colleague and current insular secretary of the PP, María Jesús Tovar, expressed that she could run for President, only if Astrid Pérez did not run.
Faced with the possibility of being replaced by Tovar, Pérez recalled that in the last Congress she obtained the support of 434 colleagues, compared to the 45 votes of the alternative list. "There are a lot of colleagues who are not public officials, but they do vote, affiliates, sympathizers, who tell me: 'No, don't even think about not running, come on, move forward'," she indicated.
