The Popular Party has once again demanded that Dolores Corujo normalize the situation of the workers in conservation and maintenance of road margins and garden areas who until last March were part of the company contracted by the island institution in 2020 to provide the service.
Although there was the possibility of extending the contract for two more years, the Cabildo chose to continue with it, leaving the future of the workers in the air, which led to protest movements by the 28 affected employees, the party comments. Protests that ended when an agreement was reached that they would be subrogated by the Cabildo itself, they recall.
"And now, when we thought the conflict was resolved, we find that the workers have not been paid since March 23, with the damages that this entails for the 28 affected families," they make clear. From the beginning of the conflict, the PP warned that "Corujo's government was putting families at risk by choosing not to extend the contract without even having prepared the specifications for the new tender and guaranteeing the continuity of the service, which shows the sloppy way in which the PSOE and Podemos government has acted," they acknowledge.
"Make the payment effective urgently so that the situation does not happen again"
From the Popular Party, they urge Corujo to "urgently make the payment of salaries to the workers effective and get to work to prevent this situation from happening again."
"It is regrettable that a government that boasts of being social allows the non-payment of salaries to its workers, and even less that they are discriminated against with respect to the rest of public employees," they admit.
