The Department of Citizen Participation of the Haría City Council has initiated the procedure to launch, for the first time in municipal history, its participatory budgets.
The Government group recently participated in an informative session to present this project in collaboration with the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
For the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Paula Montero, "with this initiative we are taking a very important step in our municipality, since, for the first time, the residents of Haría will be able to decide directly and voluntarily which projects and initiatives a part of the local budget is allocated to for the next year 2025."
Montero emphasizes that "participatory budgets are a model of active citizen participation with which citizens exercise control over the use of public money, prioritizing their needs and with which the management of municipal policies is also evaluated."
For her part, the first deputy mayor, Chaxiraxi Niz, points out that "both residents, as well as associations or groups, will have at their disposal a new communication channel with the City Council to contribute their proposals, suggestions or needs with the aim of continuing to advance and improve our municipality."
