The San Bartolomé City Council informs the students of the municipality that, as of this Monday, March 11, the deadline for submitting applications for transport and accommodation aid for the 2023-2024 academic year is open, charged to the budget of the 2024 financial year, contemplating an item of "300,000 euros".
The call for applications was published in the BOP of Las Palmas No. 30 on Friday, March 8, 2024, in which those interested can submit the required documentation between March 11 and April 23, both days included.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has pointed out that "from the city council we are clear that helping students to develop their studies is a priority, both for those who do it in Lanzarote and those who do it abroad."
In addition, he indicated that those students who "have to travel outside the municipality, but within the island, can receive up to 120 euros" and, for those who have to travel outside, the "aid amounts to 300 euros", to which "700 euros are added to subsidize the accommodation of those who live outside" the island.
For her part, the Councilor for Education, Estefanía Luzardo, has stated that "no student from San Bartolomé should see their studies conditioned by economic difficulties, so from the city council we maintain the commitment to facilitate access and continuity of learning."
The application and documentation may be submitted through the General Registry of the City Council in San Bartolomé (Plaza León y Castillo s/n) or in the Municipal Offices of Playa Honda (C/ Merlín s/n), from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or through the electronic headquarters through the City Council website. In addition, interested persons can consult any questions with the Education Department, on the telephone 928520128, extension 1613, or through the email educación@sanbartolome.es.
The amount of the aid, according to each line of subsidy, will be as follows:
Line 1: Transport aid
- 120 euros: Official studies outside the municipality of San Bartolomé, on the island of Lanzarote.
- 300 euros: Official studies outside the island of Lanzarote.
Line 2: Accommodation aid
- 700 euros: Accommodation for official studies outside the island of Lanzarote.
The subsidies for students of the municipality will be compatible with other subsidies and aid from organizations, institutions and legal entities, of a public, semi-public or private nature.
As line 1, transport aid, and line 2, accommodation aid, are considered compatible, the student may be the beneficiary of one or both lines of subsidy chosen, provided that they meet the required requirements and state it in the application annex, being able to receive up to "1,000 euros of subsidy".
