The neighborhood representatives of the Argana Alta neighborhood, the largest population center of the capital of Lanzarote, visited this Tuesday the interior of the sports facilities of the Argana Alta Pavilion, where the Arrecife City Council is undertaking works for the reopening of this Pavilion, whose construction was surrounded by "controversy and irregularities".

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, had extended an invitation to the representatives of the Neighborhood Association of this neighborhood to learn about the "progress and good progress" of these works in the Argana Pavilion, which will allow, after eleven years closed to the public, its reopening at the end of this 2024, the Council has reported.

Ricardo Ballesteros and Juan Carlos Retuerto, directors of the Argana Viva Neighborhood Association, learned this Tuesday, directly, and accompanied by the mayor, the progress of the works carried out by the concessionaire company of these sports facilities, which will allow the legacy and reopening to the public, complying with the safety, evacuation and fire extinguishing regulations, among others.

The neighborhood representatives heard directly from the technicians of the works, and the representatives of the concessionaire company, that by the end of this year the works will be completed and the Argana Alta Pavilion, called the Arrecife Sports Palace, can be enjoyed by the neighbors, clubs and athletes.

During this visit to the interior of the pavilion, the neighborhood leaders saw the almost completion of the works in the toilet area, and the area destined for the gymnasium, which will be equipped with a new ventilation system. They saw in detail the area of the pavilion where the new approved track will be built. When the interior and exterior works are completed, which are progressing at a good pace, the Argana Sports Pavilion will be available to host sporting events with a capacity of more than 2,000 people.

Yonathan de León, who together with the Councilor for Sports, Eli Merino, managed to resolve the "unblocking" of these works in the first months of this term, has been "satisfied" so that the residents of the Argana Alta neighborhood, "whom he knows very closely", can make use of these large sports facilities, of municipal ownership, and the largest capacity and sports equipment available to a neighborhood and the entire city.

In addition, Yonathan de León stated to the neighbors "we have unblocked and put into operation in a few months what had been closed for eleven years".
