The Los Ajaches Natural Monument now has conservation regulations

The COTMAC has approved this Friday the Conservation Standards of the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches, in a meeting held in Gran Canaria attended by the Councilor for Urban Planning and Environment of the City Council of Yaiza, Leonardo Rodríguez.

The Commission has also approved, at the request of the southern councilor, the allegations presented by the Consistory to provide basic infrastructure - electricity and sanitation - to the area and also the improvement of the access tracks from El Taro to the beaches. "It is great news for the municipality of Yaiza because of how important the protection of its landscape is," said the southern councilor at the conclusion of the session.

He also added the relevance of the approval "for all those citizens who, in recent months, have made public their discontent with the closure of the Papagayo campsite, since the possibility opened today of channeling light and wastewater in the future may mean a very significant reduction in the management costs of the facility".

In addition, Leonardo Rodríguez has valued, "in a very special way", the agreement reached regarding the improvement of the tracks in the area, and explains that, if necessary, "it will have to be done with a colored asphalt, which blends in with the environment, or treated with some type of resin, so that the visual impact is minimized".

The COTMAC session held on Friday also approved the recognition of the network of trails of the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches.
