Last Monday, the naming of the center as 'CEIP Alcalde Alexis Tejera Lemes' in honor of the deceased mayor on November 15 of last year was unanimously approved during the Ordinary School Council of CEIP El Quintero.

The change of name aims to be a "well-deserved tribute to someone who fought so hard to achieve answers to this historical demand for the municipality, such as the new school project", said Isidro Pérez, current mayor of San Bartolomé.

After approval in the City Council and in the School Council of the center, the proposal must be submitted for confirmation to the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Isidro Pérez highlighted that the proposal “is a sign of the great affection that the citizens of San Bartolomé have shown towards the figure of Alexis”. He also wanted to thank both the School Council of the center and the AMPA and other parents for unanimously joining this initiative.

It should be remembered that the center will house 18 units and 450 students on a plot of 13,170 square meters.
