Next Wednesday, May 14, the Tinajo City Council will hold its ordinary plenary session, in which two motions presented by the Renovating Movement of Tinajo (MRT) will be debated, focused on the defense of traditions and the improvement of the municipality's infrastructures.
The first of the proposals seeks to preserve and reinforce the cultural identity in the island and patron saint festivities of Los Dolores, especially in the Romería. According to the spokesperson for the MRT, Antonio Morales, "it is necessary to open a dialogue space that guarantees that these events continue to be a faithful reflection of our roots, avoiding the inclusion of elements that distort their traditional meaning."
The MRT also raises the need to recognize the work of people, groups and cultural groups that, year after year, keep local customs alive. "It is essential to support those who participate with carts, animals and traditional clothing, both from Tinajo and from other municipalities," adds Morales.
The motion also includes proposals to prohibit noises that interfere with official acts or cultural moments, as well as to promote the proper use of traditional Canarian clothing as a symbol of respect and appreciation of popular culture.
The second motion registered by the MRT urges the City Council to coordinate with the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Island Water Council to carry out works that definitively solve the problems that are generated in several points of the municipality every time it rains. "It is urgent to intervene to guarantee the safety, mobility and quality of life of the residents," emphasizes Morales.
"From the MRT we remain committed to a Tinajo that respects its history, takes care of its traditions and faces its needs with responsibility and a vision of the future," concludes the spokesperson.
