The Local Police of Tías celebrates this Friday the day of their patron saint, Cristo de la Vera Cruz, with a mass offered in the church of San Antonio, Tías, and the subsequent lunch and presentation of distinctions and recognitions in Puerto del Carmen. The members of the force attended together with other authorities and members of the municipal corporation.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, congratulated them "for their excellent work, both in the daily routine and in the celebration of festivals and special events that require greater dedication."
He continued explaining that "you are a relevant link in the construction of a society that guarantees the rights and duties of all citizens with an indisputable respect for the norms that regulate our coexistence, respect for equality, equity and diversity."
The head of the Local Police of Tías, Antonio Jesús Rodríguez, addressed the audience, betting on "always keeping in mind that sensitivity of putting ourselves in the place of others, a factor that is certainly extremely important in that direct treatment with citizens when facing any situation." He added that "of course, and that's how I understand it, if you are a good person, you can also be a good policeman, although personally I would stick with the first to the detriment of the second."
During the celebration, which was attended by the island director of the General State Administration, Pedro Viera, representatives of the judiciary, representatives of the different security and emergency forces, members of the municipal corporation and other authorities, various recognitions were given to agents of the Local Police of Tías.
Those distinguished with a plaque for their permanence in active service for 35 years were Gregorio Sebastián Aparicio Reyes, Francisco Jesús García Rodríguez and José Miguel Espino Hernández; while Guillermo José Padrón Hernández received the distinctive cross of permanence in active service for 20 years.
Recognition plaques were also given to agents Alberto David González García and Orlando Manuel del Rosario Falcón, who acted last August in an exemplary manner "and decisively" managing to save the life of an individual in a situation of extreme urgency.
The last three police officers who took office as career civil servants in the Tías Local Police force were also congratulated and given a gift: Orlando Manuel del Rosario Falcón, Lucía Franco Pascual and Josué Rosales Brito, and a special mention was made of the agents who have retired this year: Víctor Jesús Hernández González (officer), Pablo Jesús Pérez Fontes and José Domingo Montelongo Melián.
