The Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium has taken a decisive step in modernizing its infrastructure with the official opening of a procedure for the selection of an industrial warehouse in Arrecife to house a future fire station.

This initiative aims for this to act as an operational epicenter in the capital, significantly reinforcing response capacity and reducing intervention times in critical situations throughout the island's geography.

This project is part of a historic growth stage for security on the island, supported by the recent approval of the Consortium's budget for 2026, which amounts to nine million euros. This sum represents an increase of 925,000 euros compared to the previous year, an investment that the Cabildo's Governing Group has described as strategic to meet the objectives of increasing the number of firefighters and improving technical equipment.

This financial boost allows the Consortium not only to acquire new resources but also to materialize long-demanded infrastructures, such as the already started Tías fire station or the necessary remodeling of the La Graciosa heliportThe president of the Security and Emergencies Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio, has stated that the search for this new location "responds to a deep analysis of the current needs of the service". "This action is a direct response to the obligation to continue improving operational facilities to ensure that professionals have the best tools to protect citizens. For the Consortium, having a modern headquarters in Arrecife is not just a logistical improvement, but a guarantee of safety and effectiveness for all the people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa," he pointed out

Regarding the technical requirements of the procedure, it has been established that the ship must be located obligatorily within the municipal term of Arrecife. Taking into account connectivity criteria, speed of travel, and current urban plans, the surroundings of the LZ-20 road, which connects Arrecife with San Bartolomé, have been identified as the zone of maximum priority.

More specifically, it is estimated that the Argana neighborhood, due to its proximity to the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, meets the ideal conditions to house this strategic security infrastructure.

Entities or owners interested in participating in this selection process have a period of fifteen business days, between February 11 and March 4, 2026, to submit their proposals. The procedure will be carried out exclusively online through the Electronic Headquarters of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, where the technical and administrative conditions that will govern the selection of this new fundamental enclave for island security have already been published.
