There are nights that are etched in individual memory because they transcend the simple and everyday. And the night of June 27, 2025 promises to be one of them. That day, at 7:00 p.m., the Jameos del Agua Auditorium will host one of the jewels of the universal lyrical heritage: La Traviata, by Giuseppe Verdi.
A sensory journey in a magical setting
La Traviata, inspired by La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas, is much more than a love story. It is an ode to freedom, sacrifice and the beauty of human drama. Its most famous melodies - the vibrant "Libiamo, libiamo", the heartbreaking "Amami Alfredo" or the emotional "Addio del passato" - will resonate between the volcanic walls of the Auditorium to create that magical atmosphere that only Jameos can offer.
On stage, more than 50 artists will shape this unrepeatable experience. Ruth Terán will embody Violetta, along with Juan Antonio Sanabria as Alfredo, and Javier Franco in the role of Germont. They will be joined by performers such as Sandra Ferrández, Jeroboam Tejera, Gabriel Álvarez and Borja Molina, among others. The baton will be in the hands of maestro Rafael Sánchez Araña, leading the Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra and the Lanzarote Lyric Choir. The stage direction is by Aquiles Machado, and the artistic direction by the Lanzarote tenor Pancho Corujo, a beloved name in the Canarian music scene.
The opera will be performed in its original language, Italian, with subtitles in Spanish. It will last approximately two hours, plus a 30-minute break.
Tickets, cocktails and a cultural plan to remember
Tickets to experience this unforgettable opera night on June 27 are now available on the official website www.cactlanzarote.com. It also offers the possibility of rounding out the experience by enjoying a cocktail at the end of the performance.
Also, the previous rehearsals will be open to the public who are visiting Jameos del Agua.
From the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism it is emphasized that this proposal is part of a firm commitment to culture as an engine of transformation and social cohesion. Ángel Vázquez, counselor of the Entity, assures that "this production not only brings a genre such as opera to our island, but does so from excellence, with local and international talent, and in a space that excites by itself. Bringing together a work and a cast of the highest level in a space like Jameos is not only a new success of our cultural program but is, at the same time, a declaration of intent: Lanzarote deserves quality proposals and the Centers are here to make them a reality".
