Coalición Canaria and the Lanzarote Health Area have held a press conference this Thursday at the party headquarters in Arrecife to inform about the situation of the Insular Hospital and its temporary closure due to the state of the building's structure
At the press conference were present Pedro San Ginés, insular secretary of Coalición Canaria, Oswaldo Betancort, president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, and Erasmo García, director of the island's Health Area.
Faced with the controversy over the temporary transfer of the Insular Hospital to the emerging diseases building, San Ginés has emphasized that "it is due to a matter of safety". It should be recalled that what will be temporarily transferred to the new Molina Orosa building will be all the services of the hospital center, not the day center. This corresponds to consultations, hospital admissions, and rehabilitation
"The problem that there was was to move the day center to the emerging diseases building because it made the services in this area have to give up more spaces, but we have found the solution to the opposition's displeasure," the CC secretary has assuredIn this regard, and responding to journalists' questions, Pedro San Ginés explained that "on the ground floor of the new Molina Orosa building there is a rehabilitation area for the hospital with offices and two specialist consultations, so what the Hospital Insular has proposed is to also use this area intended for rehabilitation and use the consultations so that the transfer can be made".In reference to this, he has pointed out that "there will be no problems for the entire system because this rehabilitation gym will be moved to the one in Molina Orosa, which is much larger". Regarding the possibility of problems with consultations, he has announced that "the Cabildo of Lanzarote will sign an agreement that will allow the general services to have quite a few more consultations". However, he has pointed out that nothing is yet assured about where these consultations will take place because "several alternatives are still being considered"
A move predictably in summer dates
For its part, it foresees that this transfer to Molina Orosa will become effective in the summer, although they have not given a specific dateDuring the press conference, they made it clear again that "care for the elderly and their families will not change". Furthermore, they highlighted that "all jobs will be maintained" and that patients will have "greater safety and better medical capacity because doctors will have more resources", in reference to the temporary stay of the Insular Hospital in the Molina Orosa buildingRegarding the building's situation, San Ginés has assured that "the building is protected and will not be demolished".
