The Director General of the Civil Guard visits Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

The General Director of the Civil Guard, Félix Azón, visited Lanzarote and Fuerteventura this Monday to learn firsthand, through its main commanders, the structure, organization and problems of both islands.

Azón held a working meeting with the heads of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, which was also attended by the Brigadier General Head of the Canary Islands Zone, Juan Manuel Arribas, and Colonel Vicente Reig, head of the Las Palmas Command, as well as officers from the different specialties and companies.

The Civil Guard commanders explained to the general director the tasks they carry out on these two islands, what has been the evolution in recent years, as well as the perspectives and future plans.

Visit to the Costa Teguise barracks and Yaiza


In Lanzarote, the general director was also able to visit the Costa Teguise barracks, the Yaiza Post and a patrol boat of the Civil Guard Maritime Service in Playa Blanca.

The Company, made up of almost 300 troops, is divided into four Main Posts, a Penitentiary Center section, a Traffic detachment, Seprona, investigation units, care units for vulnerable groups and support units.

The general director congratulated the members of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura for the work they do, especially considering the peculiarities of insularity. In addition, he urged them to work to increase citizen attention as much as possible, which is "one of the reasons for the Civil Guard's existence throughout its 175 years of history."

Meeting with the president of the Canary Islands Government and other authorities


Félix Azón also held a meeting with the president of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, in which they reviewed the main issues related to security in the Islands.

He also met with other authorities on the island such as the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, the island director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, Alfonso de San Martín, the magistrate-judge dean of Arrecife, Adalberto de la Cruz, the chief prosecutor of the Lanzarote and Fuerteventura area, Yolanda López, and other civil and military authorities.
