The Canary Islands Workers' Union Front (FSOC) has issued a statement addressed to the works council, reminding it of its duties as a union liaison and demanding immediate action on several issues. The union denounces problems of waste, delays in productivity and unjustified expenses that require urgent attention.
Firstly, the union points out "waste and mismanagement" and recalls that in Lanzarote there is an organisation, the Promotion Society, in charge of promoting the island. However, it explains that the Centres unnecessarily assume the financing of events, parties and aid". "We consider that these decisions are a clear example of mismanagement and business waste", they add.
In addition, the union demands immediate information on the status of productivity for 2023. They denounce their exclusion from the relevant commissions and the lack of meetings of both the IC-UGT commission and the plenary of the board of directors. They fear "possible delays in payments scheduled for January due to this inaction", they say.
Finally, the FSOC demands explanations about an expenditure of 1.5 million euros on the New Year's Eve chimes, requesting specific details about the management and necessity of this disbursement. The union urges the works council and management to fulfil their responsibilities, act promptly and provide the necessary transparency in these critical matters.
