The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium presented this Thursday the eighth edition of the campaign This summer, safe dip, an initiative developed in collaboration with the Mapfre Canarias Foundation and the Lanzarote Health Area, which aims to improve the safety of bathing areas.
To raise awareness about existing risks and train on how to act correctly against them, the Consortium has planned a total of eight workshops on basic drowning notions, as well as other basic training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and PAS behaviors (Protect, Alert and Rescue).
These workshops, which will take place between July and August in each of the seven Lanzarote municipalities and in La Graciosa, will be taught by the Emergency and Civil Protection Instructor Technician of the Lanzarote Health Area Directorate, with the collaboration of the Red Cross and the different Civil Protection groups of the Island.
“Safety on our beaches is a priority, especially during the summer when the number of bathers increases significantly. We want both residents and tourists to enjoy the coastline with complete tranquility, and this campaign, which is now in its eighth edition, is essential to educate and prevent incidents,” said Aparicio. The head of this body also pointed out that the main objective of the initiative is to “inform citizens about the common risks in the aquatic environment and teach the necessary guidelines to detect and act in emergency situations.”
The workshops will take place on the following days from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at different beaches and summer schools on the Island:
