The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, and the president of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio, presented this Thursday the eight new vehicles of the organization. With an investment of almost 1.5 million euros, the automobiles will guarantee security in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
The new acquisitions were shown at the event that took place in the parking lot of the MIAC of the Castillo de San José. “A year ago we set ourselves the goal of being a benchmark in security and we are achieving it, not only expanding the fleet, but also looking for land and executing construction of outposts in different parts of the island, such as the one we are currently undertaking in the municipality of Tías”, comments Betancort.
For his part, Francisco J. Aparicio thanked the Consortium staff for their work and highlighted “not only the magnificent work of the nearly 50 firefighters we have on staff, but also the rest of the workers who make it possible for us to grow and increase our response capacity in terms of security”.
Regarding the new vehicles acquired, two of them are 100% electric, which will allow for quick and efficient interventions, while reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to a cleaner environment. In addition, two others are of a dissuasive nature, designed to strengthen the capacity for response and preventive presence in risk situations.
Another car with a light urban pump has also been presented, equipped to act in urban and difficult-to-access spaces, as well as one specially prepared for interventions in rescue situations and technical assistance in accidents.
