The president of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote, Marcos Bergaz.

The Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote presented this Monday the new fire extinguishing model with which it is intended to improve the preventive actions for the San Juan bonfires of 2023, called Ecofire.

The event, which took place in the Multipurpose Hall of the Consortium, was attended by the president of the entity, Marcos Bergaz, and various members of the Fire Department of the Island, as well as representatives of the seven municipalities of Lanzarote, the Security and Emergency councilors and State Security Forces and Corps of the Island.

Bergaz detailed that the Consortium will introduce the organic product Ecofire during these festivities to show its effectiveness, the improvements in safety it entails and to train people to use it in family bonfires. The objective is that a night as special for the people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa as that of San Juan passes without upsets or incidents.

In this way, the councilor explained that this product reduces the risk when extinguishing the fire, is 100% natural, cuts the smoke immediately, is not toxic and is up to ten times more effective for extinguishing than water, among other benefits.

The Fire Department will perimeter all the bonfires of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and then train people in the use of Ecofire, providing them with the product and showing them how to use it effectively.
