The mayor of Arrecife, Manuel Fajardo Feo, and the representative of the company Ingenyarq Siglo XXI, Pedro Gómez, signed this Tuesday the contracts for the drafting of the first phase of the rehabilitation project of the houses of Titerroy and Valterra. The execution period of the project is four months, starting from the signing of the contract.
In the case of the Urban Renewal Area of Titerroy, the contract price is 156,855.60 euros, plus 7,842.78 euros in respect of IGIC. As for the ARU of Valterra, the contract price is 209,375.98 euros, plus 10,468.79 euros in respect of IGIC.
"This is undoubtedly a very important step to finally respond to what the residents of both neighborhoods have been demanding, but we must be very cautious and not be complacent, since we are waiting for the final approval of the General State Budgets," said the mayor.
Fajardo Feo recalled that from the City Council "an important effort is being made, taking into account the budget cuts to which we are being subjected. But this government group is very clear about its priorities and responding to the residents affected by this situation is, of course, one of them".
Finally, the capital's mayor stressed that, although for the moment, the Cabildo of Lanzarote is not part of the agreement, "we do not rule out that it will finally join as other councils have already done in other islands".
An "urgent action"
For her part, the second deputy mayor, Blanca Blancas, said that "this is proof of how we are working in this government group. We are very satisfied, we have fulfilled our part, and now all that remains is for the rest to comply as well. The residents of these neighborhoods need urgent action".
As will be recalled, 166 homes will benefit from the agreement signed in the Bilateral Commission 2009-9012, between the Canary Islands Housing Institute, the Ministry of Development and the City Council of Arrecife.
