The Department of Tourism of the Teguise City Council, led by the First Deputy Mayor Rita Hernández, announces the rehabilitation works of the three trails of Costa Teguise, a key initiative for the improvement of the natural and tourist heritage of the municipality. This project is carried out thanks to the collaboration and financing of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, led by Jessica de León, through the public company GESPROTUR.
In this first phase, the works will focus on the adaptation of Trail Number 1, a route of approximately 4.6 kilometers, recognized for its ease and for offering views of the promenade, green areas and the Barranco del Hurón.
The trails of Costa Teguise, a natural and landscape resource of great value, currently present a significant state of deterioration, with irregular ground, holes and stones that hinder the safe transit of pedestrians. Added to this is the lack of signage at intersections and along the routes, the absence of litter bins and rest areas, as well as streetlights that are out of service.
The budget for this action amounts to 203,248 euros, and interested companies may submit their offers until September 10. The execution period of the work will be four months from its award.
The works planned in this first phase include works such as earthmoving to level the ground; the installation of signage with the manufacture and placement of information panels; provision of lighting with solar streetlights to ensure safety; placement of street furniture, such as litter bins and benches; and the creation of shadows through stone walls and aluminum latticework with a wood effect.
Rita Hernández associates this municipal initiative “to the firm commitment to quality tourism and the well-being of our neighbors”. “These roads are a fundamental asset that allows residents and visitors to connect with the natural beauty of Costa Teguise in an active and healthy way.” In addition, the municipal mayor considers that “with this investment, we are not only fixing a security and maintenance problem, but we are building a more attractive and sustainable tourism product.”
