The CC councilor in Tías gives his support to the PP's minority government in the Plenary session on the controversy over the Fomit credit

He assures that after the "media and accusatory fuss" between the former mayor and the current mayor, he decided to vote in favor of the government group "out of responsibility." Regarding his relationship with the CC leadership, he says that they are communicating by burofax?

The councilor of Coalición Canaria, Mame Fernández, showed his support for the PP this Monday in the Plenary of Tías, facilitating the approval of the proposal of the Department of Finance on the acceptance of the offer made by Banco Santander in relation to the Fomit credit. While the PSOE and San Borondón abstained on this single item on the agenda, both Fernández and the current government group in minority gave the green light to this matter.

After the "media and accusatory fuss" between the former mayor, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, and the current mayor, José Francisco Hernández, about the legality of the works on Avenida de Las Playas, in Puerto del Carmen, and about the Fomit credit, Fernández decided to support the PP for "responsibility." Although days ago he warned the government group that he would present a motion of censure together with the PSOE and San Borondón if the mayor lied about this matter, he finally decided to give the PP the green light.

"What happened in the Plenary is that this credit was approved, because it had to be solved, finish paying and renegotiate the interests. Beyond who is to blame, the past, the inheritance, what worries me is the future. Hence my responsibility and my support for the government group, the PP, because the future could be bad if we did not approve this point, because we can enter the list of defaulters of the banks and that can reduce the possibility of requesting some more credit. That is the problem," defended Fernández, who on the 10th doubted about this matter, after the former mayor blamed the PP for having to pay more than 1.5 million euros in interest for not having duly justified those works.

"I don't accuse them of being liars"

After listening to the technicians and seeing the detailed reports on the granting of this Fomit credit, the CC councilor has preferred not to "blame either one or the other." "I don't accuse them of being liars or of lying," he has now clarified. In this sense, Fernández wanted to make it clear that for him José Juan Cruz Saavedra had "great value", which was the "ability to bring money from any administration." However, he also had "some fault", because sometimes "the resources were not managed in the most correct way."

"My responsibility is to listen to the technicians. After having heard them, the future could be uncertain, problematic in order to receive more credits. Therefore, this councilor supports the government in those things that are good for the municipality, and that is what I will continue to do," he insisted, opting for one of his first options for the moment, to support the PP without entering to govern.

Fernández explained that he also gave his support to the PP in the face of "the risk of having to return the credit of 6 million euros, with the fatal consequences for this City Council and for its neighbors", although he has requested that an investigation or an internal or external audit be opened to determine responsibilities "if there were or had been any."

A "burofax" relationship with the island leadership of CC

On the other hand, Fernández has also explained his relationship with the island leadership of CC, after it requested through a burofax the convocation of a Local Committee in Tías so that this body could meet with the island Executive. "I have also answered by burofax, as they seem to have lost my number...", the councilor indicated.

Precisely, in this burofax, the CC councilor has provided his telephone number "in case they have lost it." He has not yet received a response from the island leadership. Fernández has proposed to the leadership the possibility of holding a meeting of the Local Committee together with the general secretary, David de la Hoz, and the secretary of Organization, Antonio Morales.

"They request a meeting of the Committee with the Executive, but first we want to talk to the two secretaries, the highest leaders on the island," Fernández defended.
