The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and the Minister of Social Welfare, Marci Acuña, have signed this Tuesday the "Agreement for Social Peace", an agreement with the main public utility associations of the island: AFA, Adislan and El Cribo, which aims to restore coordination and joint work between the highest island institution and these non-profit entities that serve in their immediate environment about 300 people from the Third Sector that Oswaldo Betancort thanked the predisposition of the entities and stressed that, "with the materialization of the signing of these protocols, we want to express the intention to sign collaboration instruments, give guarantees and establish an order for the provision of services by these associations through social agreements."

"Today we are opening a new stage, marked by dialogue, teamwork and the desire to improve and achieve excellence in the treatment of the most vulnerable people in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, who must be cared for by professionalized entities," emphasized the president.

Likewise, the Minister of Social Welfare, Marciano Acuña, stated that, thanks to this agreement, "we leave behind the tension, disagreements, and distrust and uncertainty suffered until now -which even led to public demonstrations- and we begin to formalize all the necessary actions that in the future may govern agreements for the provision of the service, guaranteeing the principle of legal certainty, accessibility, publicity and transparency."

The agreement contemplates the care of 165 people by the Association of People with Disabilities of Lanzarote (Adislan); 93 places for users of the Mental Health Association El Cribo and, finally, the service of promotion of personal autonomy of the Association of Relatives of Patients with Alzheimer's and other Dementias of Lanzarote (AFA), which will have 30 places, totaling 288 places among the three entities.

The representatives of the 3 associations that sealed this transitional agreement were very satisfied with "this important step towards tranquility and teamwork, which should never have been lost, and which will allow people with disabilities, dependents or with mental health problems and their families, to have the resources and support they need so much."
