The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Ministry of Public Works, has put out to tender the project for the reinforcement of the road surface on several sections of the LZ-1 road (Arrecife-Órzola), an action necessary to improve road safety and driving comfort on one of the main roads in the north of the Island. The base budget amounts to 460,649.21 euros and the planned execution period is two months.

The work will focus on three sections located between Guatiza and Órzola, an area where severely deteriorated pavements had been detected, significantly affecting vehicle traffic. Among the observed damage are loss of fines, segregation, longitudinal cracks—especially coinciding with road markings—as well as areas with water absorption and potholes that compromised user safety, particularly in the vicinity of Guatiza, one of the most worn areas.

The intervention includes milling, laying a new asphalt layer, repainting horizontal signage, cleaning of verges, and other complementary maintenance work. The road surface improvement will not involve the occupation of new surface area or modification of the layout, respecting the current geometric characteristics of the road.

The Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, highlighted that this project was "a priority and urgent due to the advanced deterioration of several sections of the road. The LZ-1 is an essential artery for the connectivity of northern Lanzarote, and acting now means guaranteeing safer and more fluid traffic for residents and visitors." Furthermore, Medina emphasized that "with this tender, we continue to fulfill our commitment to preventive conservation and constant investment in the maintenance and modernization of the island's road network."

During the execution of the works, alternatives and measures for traffic regulation will be coordinated to avoid significant disruptions, ensuring the connectivity of the municipality of Haría with the rest of the Island at all times.
