The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Education, has approved the bases for the call for grants for official studies during the 2023-2024 academic year, for an amount of 426,700 euros.
The resolution of the subsidies has been published this Monday, September 2, and until next Friday, September 13, the period for correcting documentation and submitting allegations will remain open.
The President of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasizes that "it is essential to continue improving the granting of scholarships and expand our support for projects that enrich the training of our students, facilitating their access and continuity in higher education."
"Our goal is that these grants reach as many people as possible, so that they can continue their studies and ensure a promising future," says the president.
The Minister of Education, Ascensión Toledo, underlines the importance of these grants, "which are a priority for this Cabildo." In this line, she points out that thanks to these subsidies, "we can maintain an active scholarship policy, essential in a territory where many families must make a significant effort so that their sons and daughters can continue their studies outside the Island."
Upcoming calls
In addition to the scholarships for official studies, the Cabildo is processing the approval of the regulatory bases for specific aid for travel, with a total amount of 300,000 euros, aimed at students who moved to pursue higher education during the 2023-2024 academic year, whether vocational or university, outside of Lanzarote.
"The objective is to mitigate the additional costs faced by families when their sons and daughters have to move to other islands or even to the peninsula to continue their education," adds the councilor.
"With this new call, the Cabildo of Lanzarote reaffirms its commitment to educational development and support for families, ensuring that the training of its young people is not interrupted by economic barriers," she concludes.
