The vice-president and head of the Planning and Project Coordination area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, María Jesús Tovar, has made an institutional visit to the headquarters of the Associated Center of the UNED in Lanzarote, located in the Old Parador de Turismo of Arrecife, to learn firsthand about the improvement and modernization actions recently carried out thanks to an insular subsidy of 40,000 euros financed through the Next Generation EU funds.
“The objective of this intervention was to modernize the technological, audiovisual, and furniture resources of the UNED so that our students and teachers have 21st-century facilities. A very visible improvement has been achieved that raises the quality of teaching and the cultural life of the center, maintaining absolute respect for the historical value of the Old Parador and the legacy of César Manrique,” stated the vice-president, María Jesús Tovar.
This important economic injection has allowed the technological and equipment transformation of the tutorial classrooms and, especially, of the Aula Magna, optimizing the quality of distance university education and enhancing the center's capacity to host first-class academic and cultural events. All this while combining teaching use with the heritage preservation of the historic building and the enhancement of César Manrique's famous murals housed within its facilities.
Among the main actions developed, the acquisition and installation of six interactive screens of the latest generation distributed in the study and tutorial classrooms stands out.
Likewise, the Aula Magna has undergone a comprehensive design renovation, which includes the installation of a new technical lighting system adapted for classes, exams, and conferences, the implementation of a renewed sound system, as well as the provision of furniture consisting of 36 tables and 60 chairs, along with new furniture for the library area and UNED Sénior.
