The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, on behalf of the entire Island Corporation, conveys his "deepest condolences" to the family and loved ones of Rosa María Mesa García, a former employee of the Island Hospital of Lanzarote, who passed away this Sunday at the age of 71.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote, and with "special affection", the team of the Social Welfare Area, shows its "deep regret" for the death of Rosa María Mesa, who carried out her professional career at the Island Hospital.
"She worked at the hospital at a time when there were scarce resources, but even so, her contribution to what is now the Geriatrics Unit of the socio-health center was remarkable", Marci Acuña highlighted as councilor of the area, valuing her "years of work and dedication" as a social worker, and conveying condolences to her husband, Orlando Suárez, former secretary of UGT and historical member of the socialist party of Lanzarote, who accompanied her during difficult years of degenerative process due to her illness.
The Cabildo has also highlighted her role as founder of the Mararía collective, thanks to which she awakened social awareness for the struggle for women's rights.
