Two banners with the rainbow flag, emblem of the LGTBI community, hang from this Wednesday on the facade of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, which, with this action, wanted to show its support to the community on the occasion of the upcoming LGTBI Pride Day.
"Now more than ever we must give visibility to the LGTBI community and claim equality in the face of discrimination and hate speech that still persist in our society," said Myriam Barros, Minister of Equality of the institution in office.
Barros believes that we "must celebrate Pride Day recognizing the achievements made but also remembering that there is still much to be done." She adds that "we cannot allow a single step back in the rights conquered."
In addition to wearing the rainbow flag until the end of the month, the institution is scheduled to host a reading of manifestos on June 28, Pride Day, which will feature representatives of the various LGTBI associations on the island.
