The Cabildo of Lanzarote continues visiting the municipalities of the island to learn about the status of the works financed by the island corporation. This time it was Yaiza's turn.
The vice president and councilor of Public Works of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, recently traveled to the south of the island to analyze at what point are the more than six million euros that the Island Corporation has invested between 2020 and 2023, and it was done in a meeting attended by the mayor and head of Economy and Finance of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the councilor of Works, Ángel Lago.
“This meeting has served to have a first contact and to know firsthand at what point these works are, many of which involve a total transformation in the municipality”, said the vice president, Jacobo Medina.
The mayor, Óscar Noda, stressed that “we request the Cabildo to co-finance initiatives that we have drafted, because although we have a forecast of 12 million euros more of our own resources for investment, our goal is to accelerate the setting up of infrastructures and services".
Both the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the City Council of Yaiza have agreed that in a period of six months this meeting will be repeated to analyze both the status of these works, as well as the new investments that will be made this 2024.
“We are convinced that, both through the Municipal Cooperation Plans, as well as with the different funds of the Regional Executive, we will continue to undertake works that transform and improve the municipality of Yaiza”, said Jacobo Medina.
An investment that amounts to 6.2 million euros
The meeting reviewed the works carried out since 2020, a year in which the Cabildo of Lanzarote allocated 990,914.37 euros for different projects, of which the children's parks of El Faro and Las Coloradas have already been executed; the repair of the Papagayo Avenue park; three pre-collection points for waste in Playa Blanca (only one has been executed); the municipal shooting range; the vertical signage and the supply of street furniture for the municipality.
The Municipal Cooperation Plan of 2021 had a budget of 1,041,308 euros, composed of the project of the Playa Blanca soccer field, as well as the installation of lighting and changing rooms of the same (the modification of the project is being drafted); and the implementation of a children's park in Las Breñas, a project that is already in tender.
On the other hand, there are already two projects executed of the PCM of 2022, for which the municipality had a budget of 1,093,612 euros, which are the children's park of the Colegio de Uga (pending receipt of work) and the children's park of Femés; while the start of the work of the municipal sports facility in Aulagar, Playa Blanca, is pending.
In the year 2023 the municipality of Yaiza had a budget of the PCM of 669,197.12 euros, based on two projects: the installation of a children's park in the Uga picnic area (in execution) and the improvements of the La Degollada picnic area (pending tender).
Finally, vice president, mayor and councilor of Works reviewed the status of the works financed through the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN), which have a budget that amounts to 2,482,728.14 euros. These projects are the basic project and execution of the second phase of the Civic Center of Femés; the conditioning of the Uga picnic area (in execution); and the reinforcement of the pavement of the road that connects Maciot and Playa Blanca (under technical review).
“All the projects have been drafted by the City Council of Yaiza and to the FDCAN 2023 we also sent the resurfacing of the main avenue of El Golfo and the reinforcement of the pavement of the back of Yaiza”, specifies the mayor.
