The Area of the Elderly of the Cabildo de Lanzarote claims its "active" collaboration with the town councils

Councilor Nori Machín highlights "the "fruitful results" that are being achieved

The Area for the Elderly and Intergenerational Relations of the Lanzarote Council sealed a few weeks ago the constitution of the first Island Council of Senior Citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa (CIPM), an entity that seeks to become a forum to coordinate projects jointly with the town councils and the senior citizens' associations themselves.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, recalled that the creation for the first time in history of an island Area specifically aimed at deploying public policies that affect the elderly, "was much more than a declaration of intent, and in just one year we have made transcendental decisions in this matter."

For her part, the Councilor for the Elderly and Intergenerational Relations Area, Nori Machín, highlighted the "fruitful results" that are being achieved through a "very active line of collaboration" established in this matter with all the town councils: "Every day, we receive requests for collaboration from the town councils and the associations themselves to carry out some of their activities."

"Precisely, a few days ago we were in one of the hotels in Costa Teguise with a group of neighbors from the municipality of Tinajo who were doing aquagym in the pool," details the councilor, who thanked Councilor Macarena Olivero Bonilla, councilor responsible for the Third Age Area in Tinajo, for the good attitude shown by her and other municipal managers of the seven town councils when developing this coordinated work.

Nori Machín has valued this "close line of inter-administrative collaboration with all the municipalities. It is one of the most valuable characteristics of this Area from where, in addition to developing our own projects such as the Active+Vital Rejuvenation Plan, among others, we maintain direct contact with the groups and the town councils, always with the aim of collaborating and providing resources to the extent of our possibilities, something that we will continue to do gladly."
