The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, received this Wednesday the Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Costa, at the beginning of the 34th Spanish-Portuguese Summit that is being held this Wednesday in Lanzarote and in which nine Spanish ministers are participating.

Sánchez and Costa already met this Tuesday, during the visit in the town of Tías to the House-Museum of the Portuguese Nobel Prize winner for literature José Saramago, and at the joint dinner with the two delegations, and they have greeted each other again this morning, this time, with the protocol honors of a summit of this level.

Sánchez has welcomed Costa together with the president of the Cabildo and the mayor of Haría at the gates of the Jameos del Agua, the space designed by César Manrique, to then listen to the national anthems of both states and review the troops of infantry regiments, the navy and the air force.

Next, the 34th Spanish-Portuguese Summit began, which is attended by the Second Vice President, Yolanda Díaz; the Third Vice President, Teresa Ribera; and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Transport, Education, Culture, Health and Universities.

After the traditional family photo, Sánchez and Costa will hold a bilateral meeting, while the Spanish ministers will meet in parallel with their respective counterparts.

Later, around 10:30 a.m., the plenary meeting of the two delegations will take place and, once concluded, they will proceed to sign agreements and appear, in the case of Sánchez and Costa, before the media.
