About ten thousand people, according to sources from the Arrecife city council, have taken to the streets of Arrecife again to demonstrate against the oil explorations that Repsol intends to carry out in waters near Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

For its part, about one hundred and fifty people have done so in La Graciosa. Demonstration that was attended by the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Paulino Rivero, the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, the councilor Alicia Páez, Margarita Páez, Eugenio Robaina and the mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga.

"We live here, we decide here: No to RePPsol" has been the slogan that has led all the demonstrations on the eight Canary Islands. This is the third mobilization that has been called against the surveys, although this time it is not only intended to express the rejection of the soundings, but to demand the right of the islanders to decide on their future and to participate in the popular consultation about the tastings.

The protest, organized by the Canarian Citizen Movement against Prospecting, has been carried out in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Arrecife, Puerto del Rosario, San Sebastián de La Gomera, Los Llanos de Aridane, Valverde and Caleta de Sebo in La Graciosa.
