The Teguise City Council will have a budget of 2,985,000 euros dedicated to subsidies. “We continue to increase our support for all the groups and associations in the municipality that do so much and such great work for and for the municipality, increasing our support every year, going from 1.4 million in 2011 to almost 3 million in 2023”, Oswaldo Betancort has stated as mayor.
More than 50% of this amount is allocated to competitive grants, such as student transport aid (330,000 euros); sports (385,000 euros); cultural (70,000 euros); socio-cultural centers (90,000 euros); festivals and Carnival groups (80,000 euros); agriculture, livestock and fishing (65,000 euros); senior citizens' associations (58,000 euros); social services (42,000 euros); educational centers and AMPAS (70,000 euros); SMEs (500,000 euros), among other areas such as Environment and Equality (with more than 20,000 euros).
“Nominated subsidies are also included for different groups in all areas for an amount of almost one million euros, such as federations, both cultural and from the primary sector, as well as for the different clubs and sports events, congresses and educational projects and associations from all sectors, in addition to promotion and security subsidies for the municipality”, explained Javier Díaz as head of the area.
And, for his part, the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, recalls that “these amounts that have been taken to the plenary session today entail compliance with many commitments acquired with businessmen and freelancers, with all municipal groups, students, etc.”. “We have increased the items, in general, and thus we will be able to invest a large part of the surplus in priority public services, in job creation and in quality of life throughout the municipality”, he concluded.
