The Teguise City Council increases surveillance on Famara beach with new lifeguards, a staff that goes from one to three lifeguards. This was communicated to La Voz by the Councilor of Police of Teguise, Ginés González, who also pointed out that the "staff of local police" will be increased in the municipality.

The new lifeguards on the beach will collaborate "when they find some type of spill or garbage is left on the beaches", the councilor said, when asked about the lack of surveillance in relation to the latest infraction carried out by a woman who was riding a horse on Famara beach. As you may recall, the images that La Voz had access to were taken on Monday afternoon in one of the most representative natural spaces on the island of Lanzarote.

The councilor pointed out that citizen collaboration is "fundamental" in these cases, "while an optimal level is not reached", when witnessing some type of infraction or crime, "the authorities should be called, to go as quickly as possible and stop the problem", he pointed out.

"Citizen collaboration is essential to stop the problem"

In addition, the Councilor of Police of Teguise, Ginés González, has pointed out that "there are shortcomings" in the number of agents who provide service in the municipality, specifically in "some areas and at some times of the day". In the case of Teguise, the councilor makes it clear that the Local Police "does what it can with the agents it has and that the staff is being increased".

As directly responsible for the police staff, González stressed that "surveillance is acceptable, but it can be improved". González stated that in the legislature "my intention is to increase the staff as much as possible year after year".

According to González, the increase in staff will be carried out with "five agents each year", which would mean the end of the legislature "with 20 new agents". A measure that will increase security throughout the municipality. "Teguise is not the one that does the most police actions, but it is the safest and the one in which the fewest crimes are committed", concluded the councilor.
